Blue LED light therapy is FDA-approved, painless, and safe to use. Blue light therapy technology is an additional option for the treatment of acne for many years, according to Judith Hellman, MD, a board-certified dermatologist, in practice in New York City.

Blue light kills the acne-causing bacteria known as Propionibacterium acnes, or P acnes, which can cause inflammation. P acnes is sensitive to blue light. Using the blue light eliminates the bacteria found in the oil glands in the skin and the red pimples (papules) seen in acne. After a number of treatments, the blemishes disappear and the skin regains its normal appearance.

Patients can use the Home devices of Blue led light therapy device any time of the day or night and lead to similar improvements, It’s the incredible advancements that allow consumers to achieve efficacy on their own schedule.

In addition, the J Clin Aesthet Dermatol published the research “Clinical Efficacy of Self-applied Blue Light Therapy for Mild-to-Moderate Facial Acne” in 2009 Mar, and make the conclusion that daily self-treatment using the device for mild-to-moderate inflammatory acne reduced the number of acne lesions significantly.

This 28-year old male patient was in J Clin Aesthet Dermatol’s research, he had the first outbreak of acne at the age of 23. Baseline (a) and after the eight-week treatment period (b). The total number of lesions had reduced by 94 percent. The number of open comedones was reduced by 100 percent, the number of closed comedones was reduced by 100 percent, and the number of papules was reduced by 84 percent. There were no pustules or nodules present at the start and end of treatment.

The Photomed Laser Surg did the research about “A Controlled Trial to Determine the Efficacy of Red and Near-Infrared Light Treatment in Patient Satisfaction, Reduction of Fine Lines, Wrinkles, Skin Roughness, and Intradermal Collagen Density Increase” in 2014, Feb 1, and found RLT and ELT are large-area and full-body treatment modalities for skin rejuvenation and improvements in skin feeling and skin complexion. The application of RLT and ELT provides a safe, non-ablative, non-thermal, atraumatic photobiomodulation treatment of skin tissue with high patient satisfaction rates. RLT and ELT can extend the spectrum of anti-aging treatment options available to patients looking for mild and pleasant light-only skin rejuvenation.

Clinical photography revealed visible changes in wrinkles and skin roughness, they show an example for one subject in each treatment group, comparing the baseline (t0) status with t30 as below figure

Dr. Ann Dermatol published the research “Hair Growth Promoting Effects of 650nn Red Light Stimulation on Human Hair Follicles and Study of Its Mechanism via RNA Sequencing Transcriptome Analysis” in 2021 December, made the conclusion that Low-level 650 nm red light promoted the proliferation of human hair follicles in the experimental cultured-tissue model. Consistently, 650 nm red light significantly delayed the transition of the hair cycle from anagen to catagen in vitro. RNA-seq analysis and gene clustering for the differentially expressed genes suggests that leukocyte transendothelial migration, metabolism, adherens junction, and other biological processes may be involved in the stimulation of hair follicles by 650-nm red light treatment.
